Summary of Design
We believe the design that will bring the most benefit to the largest number of stakeholders and users would be to upgrade shuttle stops with an interactable terminal that would display bus routes and arrival times. We chose this design over other alternatives because each of our other ideas had the potential to negatively impact users and stakeholders. We don’t want to sacrifice the experience of some for the benefit of others. Including speakers with music has the potential to be disruptive for individuals who are on the phone or working while waiting for or traveling on the busses. Similarly, having service animals nearby would likely be distracting and potentially dangerous for individuals who are allergic. An interactable terminal holds a clear benefit over these alternatives because it provides the reliability that many resources are lacking and is the most possible to create inclusivity within all users.

Design Details
To create our digital prototypes we attempted to model our design and how users would interact with it. We envisioned an external view of interactive terminals we believe bus stops should be upgraded with using Vectary. We then used Figma to prototype a view of the terminal and potential interactions users could have. In the current implementation of our design, interactive terminals will have a home screen that provides a view of users current location as well as upcoming arrivals.
This is a view of the home screen of the terminal. The location of this specific terminal would be in the Regents Drive Garage bus stop. If the user wishes to view the available routes, they will press the Route List button in the upper right corner.

Users may use the touch screen or corresponding buttons around the terminal to select upcoming arrivals or a bus that will pull up all routes. We emphasized simplicity to ensure that all of the pages are not confusing whatsoever.

When users select a particular bus route, information about the stops and arrival time for that bus as well as a map of the route are displayed. Options to return or to access home will be physical buttons around the terminal.
